Organic Dog Shampoo

Choosing the right dog shampoo is very important. Dogs have fewer skin cell layers of just 3-5 compared to humans which is 10-15 layers. So even using something as mild as baby shampoo should never be used. Pet shampoos which include element like deodorants or fragrances that may affect to the skin of your pet and cause irritation or inflammations. So organic dog shampoos without any unnatural additives are today very popular. For dogs that have dry, flaking or itching skin should not have a water based shampoo used on them as this can dry out the skin further. Natural shampoos that are oatmeal based are excellent for dogs with this condition. If you are not sure consult your vet first. But even natural shampoos for pets can adversely affect the skin of the dog and cause irritation. Some of the allergical natural ingredients may be contained in plants, fruits or vegetables, such as: eucalyptus. Or also in orange or lemon extracts, and tea tree oil. Puppy Shampoo
When washing a puppy for the first time, a very gently dog shampoo should be used. As it is the first time, there may or may not be a skin reaction without you knowing it. To be safe, a very mild hypoallergenic pet shampoo would be one the best products to use as this will reduce if not stop any reactions all together. Puppies under the age of 8 weeks should not be washed if at all possible. If it is necessary do not ever use human shampoo, even one as gentle as baby shampoo. A good alternative would be to use pine tar soap (which can be purchased from a health food store) or there are some organic pet shampoos that have a pine tar base but be careful as there may be other ingredients that may cause skin issues. Once these skin problems start it can take a very long time to fix. Another good product for puppies is a natural shampoo that is based with oatmeal. Not only does this moisturize the skin but it is very mild and great for puppies or dogs with sensitive skin. Be sure to consult your vet if you have any concerns.

Hypoallergenic Dog Shampoo
When looking for a product to use on your dog, you really need to consider their skin type. If your dog suffers from skin allergies, just using any product can have disastrous effects and lead to a bigger problems which could take a long time to manage and cost a lot in vet bills trying to find the right solution.

A mild hypoallergenic shampoo for dogs can also be gentle enough to use on young puppies, it is not recommended to wash a puppy that is under 2-3 months old but if necessary this product may be used, be sure to ask your vet beforehand though and never wash any dog with human shampoo as this can be disastrous to any dog regardless of any skin allergies or not.
